I was asked what I would do today if the unthinkable were to happen.
I finally have an answer, I would say I'm sorry.

Sorry for the people I hurt
Sorry for the things I did
Sorry for the things I won't ever learn.
Sorry for being me
For hiding behind the walls
For not saying the things I should

Sorry for the times I did
What I shouldn't have done
Sorry I have few regrets
Sorry for those who have too many
Sorry for all the decisions that hurt the people
I loved.
Sorry for everything.
But most of all,
Sorry for thinking what I should have said.
Sorry for being me.

And yet, as I write
I think to myself
Why be sorry
Why be sorry for being me
Why be sorry for the things I've done
Why?

I am me
I can't change
I hate it and yet I won't
I am me and that is all I will or can, ever be.
